2.14.14 – Prosciutto-Wrapped Scallops

For the past few years, Tony and I have stayed in on Valentine’s Day. Cooking is something that we truly enjoy doing together so we skip the reservation-only night on the town, pick up a bottle of wine and enjoy each other’s company in the peace and quiet of our own place. We are lucky to live in a city with well-stocked grocery stores and markets that make it easy to have gourmet at your own dinner table (with a little patience and practice of course).

This year: prosciutto-wrapped sea scallops, fireside.


Simple and delicious –

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

After you have cleaned your scallops, season both sides with salt and pepper. Fold each slice of prosciutto in half lengthwise, and then wrap each scallop in 1 slice of prosciutto. Place wrapped scallops in a buttered baking dish, seam side down. Bake until scallop is cooked through, about 15 minutes.


  • 12 medium scallops
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 12 slices prosciutto
  • Butter
